A discussion with two of the world's leading thinkers about space, place, and community: Designer and philosopher Stewart Brand (How Buildings Learn) and Witold Rybczynski (The Perfect House), moderated by local legend architect Evans Woollen
When: Saturday 19 November, 2:00-3:00 PM
Where: Indianapolis Museum of Art, DeBoest Lecture Hall, 4000 N Michigan Rd.
A building, a tool, and a piece of furniture: each embodies an idea about utility or beauty, a belief about what people should want or need. This dialogue is about the mobility of ideas and theories of design over time and across cultures. How do styles and technologies acquire staying power for the future—or simply expire? This program is inspired by the IMA’s fall exhibition, International Arts & Crafts, and made possible by the Evans Woollen Fund.
