Lunch discussion with Rabbi Lawrence Kushner
When: Saturday 5 November, noon – 2:00 PM
Where: Congregation Beth-El Zedeck, 600 W. 70th St. Indianapolis
Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah) is a tradition that has moved far from its origins to speak to a modern community of people seeking meaning. Kabbalah develops a sophisticated theory of the nature of divinity, the origins of creation, and the role of human beings in the tasks of redemption. It includes meditative and devotional practices originally taught only to a select few. Aspects of Kabbalah have been studied and used by non-Jews for several hundred years. How far can you move from the tradition and still claim to be attached to that tradition? Rabbi Lawrence Kushner, one of this year's Public Conversationalists, will talk about how we can honor traditions of the past yet adapt to modern society.

Lunch costs $10. Reservations required by Tuesday, November 1 by calling 253-3441, or writing to bez613@bez613.org.
Presented by Arthur M. Glick Jewish Community Center's Ann Katz Festival of Books and The Alan and Linda Cohen Center for Jewish Learning and Living at Congregation Beth-El Zedeck. Questions? Call 253-3441 or e-mail bez613@bez613.org.
